I ran across this news today..
Before you nip & tuck, you may want to hear this
Dozens of plastic surgeons, dermatologists and other health professionals will participate at a Cosmetic Surgery & Wellness Expo at the Miami Beach Convention Center on Saturday.
The free, one-day event is geared to help individuals find the right provider and treatment for their cosmetic surgery and wellness needs, said Dr. Adam Rubinstein, an Aventura-based board-certified plastic surgeon, who is organizing the expo.
“The whole purpose of the event is that it is really for public safety,” said Rubinstein, chief of the department of surgery at Jackson North Medical Center.
Each of the doctors has been vetted and is board-certified, he said.
“We’re doing the homework for the public,” Rubinstein said. “When the public goes to choose a doctor, it’s very confusing these days.”
Specialists of all types, including plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and those involved in hair transplants, weight loss, anti-aging medicine, bioidentical hormones, acupuncture and chiropractic, will lecture, answer questions and offer mini-consultations. Demonstrations of laser treatments, tooth whitening, acupuncture and aesthetic treatments will be throughout the day, Rubinstein said. Some doctors will also offer on-site treatments.
In addition, exhibitors will include skin care companies and manufacturers such as Botox and Restylane.
The South Florida doctors participating, in addition to Rubinstein, are: Dr. Daniel Man, Dr. Alan Bauman, Dr. Melissa Lazarus, Dr. Julio Gallo, Dr. Robert L. Simons, Dr. Phillip Craft, Dr. Nick Masri and Dr. Mark Broudo.
Cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are surging in the United States. A total of 13.8 million procedures (both surgical and minimally invasive) were performed in 2011, up 5 percent from 2010, according to figures recently released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
This is good for public awareness and also will help doctors and surgeons perform their job better..
